Why we noticed it

Quilts, blankets and winter clothes take up most of their space as air. This kit is plain about what's in it — one bag in each of four stated sizes and a hand pump that needs no electricity — so you know exactly what you're getting.

About this product

Exactly what’s in the box: four vacuum storage bags, one of each size — 40 × 60 cm, 50 × 70 cm, 60 × 80 cm and 80 × 100 cm — and one manual hand pump. Five pieces in total.

How it works. Fold clothes, a blanket or a quilt into a bag and close the zip along its full length. Fit the hand pump over the valve and pump the air out, then screw the cap onto the valve. To unpack, open the zip; the bag can be used again.

How much smaller? That depends on what you pack. Soft, fluffy items such as duvets and pillows flatten much more than folded jeans or towels, so we don’t quote a percentage. Vacuum storage saves space, not weight.

Good to know. Make sure the zip is fully closed and the valve is clean before pumping. Keep sharp objects away from the bags.
